Dashadowlost in Fort Tilden
Traveled to some place far far away. Someplace I never heard of. Someplace, interesting, rich in shadows, and light at the same time.
So my friend and I planned to go to Fort Tilden to take some photos, and to maybe somewhat spark my interest in portrait photography.
Fort Tilden is located towards the far end of Queens in NY. Although it's not that hard to get there, it just takes a little bit of travel but it's all worth it.
We met in Grand Central where we had to take the 4 or 5 train to Brooklyn, got off at the last stop, then took a bus to finally get to the destination.
It was warmer than the usual winter weather so overall I'd say that the weather is pretty good. Maybe because it's supposed to be spring already but we're still waiting for that warm spring breeze. Although, I still wish I could have worn something a little bit thicker inside.
Anyway, exploring Fort Tilden was so much fun. Nothing like what I expected it to be. Though to be honest, I didn't really expect anything. The lighting and shadows at the place is a very good blend to practice photography. Plus the overall experience is actually refreshing. I did things I never thought I would do. Climbing over locked gates, trespassing closed properties, spending about 8 hours or so walking and taking photos. (Though the latter, I think I've done climbing Mt. Ulap, my best hike so far).
Here are some of the photos from the trip.
